The Kitchen Calls
Held in the state-of-the art kitchen classrooms and laboratories of the Berjaya University College of Hospitality (BUCH), cooking classes are free-of-charge for Gastro Dollar holders. These kitchens are equipped with the latest facilities and tailor made for learning so it doesn’t get much better.
Among the featured chefs this year is Chef Mandy Goh from LTITUDE Restaurant, Bar & Lounge – the young chef brings a youthful exuberance and a penchant for flair to the kitchen. Her Parisian inspired dishes are made using only the freshest seasonal ingredients and, for her class at Taste MIGF, she will present an iconic French dish.

A trio of chefs from BUCH take their place on the bill – Chef Azim Bin Amran, a specialist in Malaysian cuisine; Chef Choong Siew Lee, one of only three chefs in Malaysia to be certified by the World Association of Chefs Societies as a National Global Master Chef; and Chef Jochen Kern, Director of the School of Culinary Arts at BUCH, who carries a lifetime of experience under his belt after having managed the kitchens of many of the world’s finest hotels.
World famous culinary school Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia will be bringing their finest chefs to Taste this year, led by Chef Rodolphe Onno – Technical Director at the Sunway branch. Don’t miss these experienced individuals in the Gourmet Village as well, where their cooking demos draw huge crowds each day.

The Finer Points
The Epicure Lifestyle Workshops feature a range of topics, some of the most popular among which have proven to be the expert wine classes. Those with an interest in oenology – the science and study of wine – will do well to attend these sessions that are always filled to the brim.

Returning with Wine Tasting For Dummies will be Datuk Iain Lo. Participants have the opportunity to taste different varieties of red and white wine from different regions of the world. Visitors will practice using all their senses in the tasting, guided on what to look out for when looking, sniffing and tasting the wines.
Meanwhile, Jasons Food Court consultant Sommelier Sebastian Le Francois hosts a wine and cheese pairing class. This premium supermarket has arguably the best wine and cheese selection in the country – and this is down to the expertise of Le Francois!

Also making an appearance is Patrick Dowling, Penfolds Ambassador for Southeast Asia. Dowling is an active member in several industry bodies and is passionate about sharing the unique wines and stories of Penfolds with all levels of enthusiast.
From wine to wellbeing, those looking to realign their chakras and gain perspective can head to yoga teacher Annie Chan’s class. Join Chan for an enlightening talk on what Young Living Essential Oils are all about and how useful they are as a daily wellness and lifestyle tool.
